Manuel Mercado Sr.

Manuel Mercado Sr., 80, of Mountain View died Sept. 17, 2014, at home. Born in Hilo, he retired as a landscaper for the County Of Hawaii.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Sept. 24 at Ballard Family Mortuary for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be held at noon at Alae Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Alice Mercado of Mountain View; sons Manuel (Linda) Mercado III of Keaau, John (Debra) Mercado of Keaau, Robert (June) Mercado of Lanai, Manuel Dejesus Mercado I of Honolulu, Peter Mercado of Mountain View; daughters Linda (Lee) Pennywell of Nevada, Judy (Joe) Mercado of Honolulu, Monalisa Santos of Honolulu, Alice (Louis) Smith of Texas, Virginia Santana of New York, Cynthia (Pat) Kisamore of Mountain View; 34 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bradley Halliwell

Bradley “The Mayor” Herbert Kawika Halliwell, 54, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 19, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 25, 1959, in Boise, Idaho, he was a commercial fisherman, a member of HKH (Keauhou, Honalo, Kainaliu) Association, Konawaena Soccer and a professional surfer.

Friends may call at noon Sept. 27 at Living Stones Church on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona for a service. The family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Kahealani (Mikal) Kahookaulana, Kawehelani (Brian Whitlock) Adlawan and Kanoelani (Bryson) Alcordo, all of Kailua-Kona, Leona (Bronson) Angel of Puna, Brandi Halliwell and Brianna Halliwell, both of Keauhou; mother, Jody-Leilani Fleming of Kealakekua; brother, Keahi Fleming of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Lian (Chris) Nazara of Kealakekua, Maile Lei (Dominic) Gagliardi of San Jose, Calif.; stepbrothers, Kelly (Vicky) Fleming of El Sobrante Calif., Walter Amarino of Kailua-Kona, Robin (Myrna) Amarino of Holualoa; stepsisters, Terri Mae (Lloyd) Tanaka of Kealakekua, Chanel (Levi) Atoa-Williams of Reno, Nev.; stepmother, Gloria Fleming of Kailua-Kona; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeffrey Gallagher

Jeffrey “Jeff” Bassett Gallagher, 62, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 3, 2014, in Kailua-Kona. He was born Oct. 17, 1952, in Olean, N.Y.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at St. Augustine Church in Kapaau for a service. A meal will follow. Donations may be made to Hope Services Hawaii, 296 Kilauea Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

He is survived by brother, James (Diane) Gallagher; children, David Murch, Autumn Murch and Cory Gallagher.

Clyde Gouveia

Clyde Gouveia, 66, of Captain Cook died Sept. 4, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1947, in North Kona, he was a retired police officer with the City and County of Honolulu, a member of the American Legion and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Sept. 27 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua for a 10 a.m. service with burial at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests aloha attire be worn and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Janis Gouveia of Captain Cook; daughter, Roselynn (James) Rosado of Kapolei, Oahu; mother, Rose Gouveia; brother, A. Roy Gouveia; sister, Genevieve Wheeler, all of Captain Cook; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edward Pereira

Edward “Ed” Pereira, 88, of Hilo died Sept. 15, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Hilo, he was the proprietor of many apartments in Hilo. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and he also was a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will be held at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Frances Pereira of Hilo; daughters, Edie Pereira of California and Mari Frances Pereira of Kona; one grandson; brother, Bobby Pereira of Honolulu.

John Crudele

John James Crudele, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 10, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Newburgh, N.Y., he was a retired general contractor, longshoreman on the docks of New Jersey, veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and a member of the Kona Lions Club.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by companion, Connie Caldwell of Kailua-Kona; son, Robert Crudele of Hilo; daughters, Paige (Brian) De Lima of Hilo, Shelly (Kevin) Connelly of New Jersey, Kathy Martin of North Carolina; sisters, Caroline (George) Sarvis, Rosie Crudele, Carmella Hillman, all of New York; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
